Have you ever played with a cat, dangling a string above them? As they engage in play, they jump higher and higher.
But my cat doesn’t even jump onto my dresser. Or my bed. She seems overwhelmed by anything bigger than she is and doesn’t even try.
She has learned to climb, struggling up the front of my dresser like a rock climber. Her paws gripping each drawer, pulling herself up. Gravity keeps her from going every place she wants to go.
I’ve been encouraging her since she was small. I tell her she can jump, but she looks to me for example, not human words.
When I play with her dangling the string, once in awhile she loses herself in the game. I wait until she seems more absorbed in getting the string than in herself, and raise the bait higher and then a little higher. As the temptation comes up higher she begins to get some air.
Then suddenly in the fun she forgets her belief that she can’t and she does.
She allows all limiting beliefs to be put aside. In that moment she is airborne and triple backflips are easy. Four feet or more off the floor she is amazing.
Then she stands still, all four paws firmly planted on my rug and looks up at me with awe at what she did. A little shaken, still not realizing her whole life could be lived that way.
What happens when we let go? What is possible for each of us when we lose our limited thinking and follow our passion?
Extreme sports enthusiasts know they are almost limitless when they let go. Parkour experts do leap tall buildings for the fun of it.
In spiritual pursuits when we go within we lose our ego mind and transcend to a higher vibration. Our ability to connect spiritually merged with a physical calling allows us to do anything, go anywhere and succeed.
How often do you allow yourself to come up higher and trust that Spirit will hold you when you go for what you truly desire?
What don’t you know you can do? In what area of your life are you choosing to struggle? Do you know that there is an easier way?
You must find the fun in what you do. Lose yourself in joy in order to overcome self doubt.
Leap over your thoughts of lack and break through your blocks.
Me and my cat, Mia, are just beginning to realize the power within us.
We can all fly if we channel our passionate desire and have fun along the way.
Jump whether or not you believe you can and find out how high you can fly.
In love and longing to try again,
